Artifacts
This artifact tells the story of world war 1 because this piece of equipment was made for taking out big bases and to transport soldiers safely without having to get hit by bullets. The downside of these is that they were able to broken down easily because instead of using wheels to move around they were using chains to get around. They were also slow and could only move about 4 miles per hour.In world war 1 the first tanks to ever be used were the ones in the battle of Flers-Courcelette in September of 1916.
I chose barbed wire because it was used for a defense when the enemy would try and run toward the soldiers.Soldiers would lye the wire down so it would defend their trenches. It would also slow down the opposite army and trap them because it was very painful and hard to get out of it.It was first used by farmers to keep their cattle inside their property but then the army thought it would make an excellent defense.Barbed wire would prevent the enemy from getting to close and able enough to throw grenades inside the trenches.Offensive soldiers were sent out on to the battlefield to cut the wire and make a path for there teammates to get closer to the enmey.
